We watched the premier episode which started in Santa Barbara, California. Their clues were placed in mini-balloons in the middle of a vineyard. Then they were tasked to fly to Santa Barbara, Argentina, passing by Buenos Aires. The road block tasked one team member to navigate to an X’ed area and wait for their partner who had to jump off an plane, to tandem skydive. The next task was to make 120 empanadas.

Rachel and Dave, the Army Wife and Combat Pilot team, made it first to the mat at the pit stop thereby winning the Fast Pass too. Sisters Misa and Maiya lost in what seems to be the most disappointing loss in TAR history.

They were actually the tenth team to finish the empanada challenge but it was a close finish from Joey “Fitness” and Danny (Trainer & Club Promoter). It was disappointing because the pit stop was just walking distance from the last challenge and the sisters did not see Phil standing a few meters away. Needless to say Joey “Fitness” and Danny took the last slot for the next leg.

Yes, there is such a thing as Piano Olympics. I never thought of googling about it until today when I saw Roland digital pianos being featured in a magazine I was reading last night. Created by the Peskanov IPE, the event is actually non-competitive in nature but it is designed to measure each student’s progress in musical skills. Students are being evaluated in groups by teachers and invited Piano Olympics consultant. They are judged in six categories namely: concentration, rhythm, tone quality, relaxed wrist action, articulation and correct fingering. The season is highlighted by a mini-concert series participated by all teachers and students.

Piano Olympics started in 1991 and it was first held in Kingsport, Tennessee.

I am sure most of you have already heard of Jeremy Lin and how he has taken the NBA by a storm. It seems like he is not slowing anytime soon, eh? My brother shared this funny video and I thought it is also worth sharing here:

Let me pause for a while and not post about games nor sports in this blog entry. I am still over the moon after receiving cute little petite roses from the husband last Valentine’s Day. See, he is not consistent on hearts’ day every year. There are years that I receive nothing, some years he would surprise me with gifts or special lunch outs, a number of times I would receive flowers. This year was extra special because I was expecting nothing but was still surprised with a bouquet; even more special because the husband is currently away on a business trip. Victoria Azarenka was so shocked when she won the Australian Open for the first time. This trophy is the 22-year old Belarusian’s first Grand Slam title after winning against Maria Sharapova. It was a fast match as Azarenka won nine games in rapid fire fashion. Sharapova on the other hand struggled the whole time.

The Men’s final was more exciting as history unfolded. The match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic took almost six hours to finish (it was in fact just seven minutes short of six hours). It was the longest match in the history of the Australian Open as well as in the history of any Grand Slam event. Both players fought hard but it was Djokovic to turned victorious after five sets. This year’s trophy is Novak’s third Australian Open title and fifth Grand Slam cup.

There is more to the Super Bowl XLVI on February 5 than just the match between New York Giants and New England Patriots. And it’s not just fans waiting if the usb audio interface will work fine. Every year, people look forward to the celebrity who will sing the National Anthem at the start of the game. This year, it was announced on January 12 that it will be Kelly Clarkson. There will also be half-time performances from Madonna and Nicki Minaj.
