The Chinese community here celebrated the Lunar New Year with a bang. This year is the first time that the President declared it a holiday today so the celebrations became extra special and meaningful. I was expecting to get tikoy or the Chinese version of sticky rice but got none. Instead, mom said someone left a fruit basket like this one:

Good enough I say, I love receiving gift baskets for the holidays. This is timely also because we were not able to buy fruits to welcome CNY. Some of my friends joined the festivities at Binondo, the Chinatown of Manila. They say they had a blast! I could not join because of my condition but I am hoping I can go next year.
